2026 CFB Format

Canada’s Finest Breakaway has a new format for 2026!
CFB is operated by the Willow Creek Agricultural Society – a non-profit organization. We want to continue growing this event and reaching the potential we know it has!
We aim to provide a roping that is transparent, with all information posted before the roping, so that you can decide if you want to enter. We also put a large part of the producer portion back into prizes and scholarships (the rest is used for event costs) to build towards having a great event right here in Canada. Last year in 2025, we had 133% Payback for CFB and 94% Payback for the Ranch Hand Last Chance Roping. Without the prize value and scholarships included then both were a 70% Cash Payout.
Thank you to the ropers that support the event!

Invited Ropers – 20 Spots
CFB Qualifiers – 40 Spots
Ranch Hand Last Chance Roping – 20 Spots
Sponsored Ropers – 20 Spots

Note: This was advertised before the 2025 CFB Event. It was shown as a prize along with other pictures of prizes on both the website & FB page.

Format: The invited ropers are the ropers from the Top 20 Round at CFB 2025.
How to Enter: Must submit the entry form on the CFB website.
Deadline: Must submit the entry form and fees before August 17 @ Noon. If payment is not received, then we will roll down.
Fees: The total fee is $330 (Breakdown: The $300 Entry Fee has 70% going to payout and 30% is used for event costs and prizes. Plus the $30 video fee gets you access to all your CFB runs video taped).

Note: These 10 Qualifiers were chosen based on being events that have been Qualifiers before, are larger events, and also making sure that there are Qualifiers in each province.

Format: There are 4 Spots awarded at each qualifier roping with 3 Spots awarded to the top/fastest in the Sidepot and the 4th Spot is awarded to the next fastest amateur roper.
How to Enter: You enter the CFB Sidepot at the roping. It is an optional add-on to the roping’s regular entry fees.
Fees/Deadline: The CFB Sidepot has a $50 sidepot fee (due before the qualifier roping begins). The 4 Ropers that get Spots will also be responsible to pay the remaining $280 entry fee which is due with the entry form on August 17 @ Noon. If payment is not received, then we will roll down. (Breakdown: The total fee is $330. The $300 Entry Fee has 70% going to payout and 30% is used for event costs and prizes. Plus the $30 video fee gets you access to all your CFB runs video taped.)

Note: This change to Sidepot fees was done to make it more affordable. In previous years, ropers were paying for just a chance at getting a Spot. Now you are paying the $280, after you know that you have a Spot. In previous years, contestants were paying the old $150 or $200 fee multiple times before they won a spot.

Visit the Schedule Page for full details on how the sidepot works at CFB Qualifiers

Thank you Ranch Hand for being a local business that supports the CFB Event!
Visit www.ranchhand.store for a great selection of headstalls, western bags, and dog collars.

Format: There are 20 Spots awarded at the roping with 15 Spots awarded to the top/fastest in the Sidepot and then 5 spots are awarded to the next fastest 5 amateur ropers. More details to be posted with the ropings info.
How to Enter: Entry form on the CFB Website. Pre-entries are online and late entries are accepted at the roping with a late fee.
Fees: The CFB Sidepot at this roping has a $100 sidepot fee (due before the roping begins). The 20 Ropers that get Spots will also be responsible to pay the remaining $230 entry fee which is due one hour after the roping’s completion. If payment is not received, then we will roll down. (Breakdown: The total fee is $330. The $300 Entry Fee has 70% going to payout and 30% is used for event costs and prizes. Plus the $30 video fee gets you access to all your CFB runs video taped.)

We have been consistently asked: “How can I help with the CFB Event?”
Here is your chance to help make the event great with a larger payout!
If we get 20 Sponsored Ropers, then that would mean roping for $25,000 Added Money!

How to Enter: Submit the “CFB Sponsor a Roper” form to CFB.
Deadline: When the 20 Spots are filled or August 17 @ Noon, whichever is first.
How it Works: There is a one-page form called “CFB Sponsor a Roper”. There are 20 Spots reserved for ropers that bring in a $1,500 Sponsorship using this form. For each sponsorship, $1,250 will go towards payout and $250 will go towards event costs.
Note: There are only 20 Spots for this and we will update on the website how many spots have been filled. Do not submit a sponsorship form if the 20 Spots have been filled.

Note

This is an overview of the 2026 season. We reserve the right to modify the 2026 CFB format for any reason. For example, if the 20 Spots for Sponsored Ropers did not fill then we would consider allocating those unfilled Spots to a different category (such as taking more Spots from the Qualifiers).
